Backrooms Recovery Tips & Tricks
Practical habits based on a full playthrough. For the step-by-step route, see the walkthrough.
Memory
- Grab every drop. The small black eye puddles only give a little each, but they add up.
- Look for capturing objects. Things like the flower-door keyholes and the rocking horse give the biggest jumps. Hold your view on them until the Capturing bar fills.
- Don't chase polaroids for progress. They're story lore, not memory.
- Dying isn't a reset. Memory % is kept, so a lost life only costs you a disk.
Surviving
- Break TV-Head's line of sight. It chases what it sees. Turn corners instead of running down long straight halls.
- Count your floppy disks. You get 4 lives. Play more carefully when you're down to the last ones.
- Sidestep the masks. The green and blue floating masks lunge, so keep moving.
- Ignore the pink bunny. The one running away in the halls is harmless.
- Cross the floor pits slowly. Stay on the narrow beams.
- Watch the battery. It drains over time on the left of the HUD.
- Play with sound on. Small noises give early warning.
Device tips
- Mobile: try landscape mode so the joystick has room.
- Desktop: full screen and headphones make the atmosphere stronger.
- Lag: close other tabs.
